Buford, GA - January 28, 2008- Kinetic Motorsports went to battle Friday in the 3-hour Grand-Am KONI Challenge, Fresh from Florida 200 this past weekend at Daytona International Speedway. Kinetics presented 4 cars in the 35 car Challenge with two completing the race. The entire Kinetic field produced great results during practice and qualifying. The Kinetic Motorsports sponsored #80 BMW E46 M3 driven by Chip Herr and Lance Willsey had the great performance starting 25th and finishing 11th. Drivers Lee Davis and Kinetic co-owner, Russell Smith also had a clean race finishing 15th in their #78 Luna-C sponsored BMW. The team of Glenn Bocchino and co-driver Todd Lamb in the Cybernation/Ecocomp sponsored M3 were destined to be strong contenders posting great times. Unfortunately, after lap 36, Bocchino experienced electrical issues which forced the team to retire the #32 out of the race after only one hour of competition.
"Our Daytona race weekend was a bit rough.", said Kinetic Team Manager, Ed Hall. "We suffered some setbacks with the major damage to our new E92 and the electrical problems with car #32; however, we are a strong willed team and we will be back. Our showing pre-race was stellar and our client drivers performed well, we just had some unfortunate circumstances for this race. Luckily, we have some time to regroup and we are looking ahead to a great performance at Homestead."
"We had a great time out on the track.", said Smith. "Despite seeing our sister car hit early in the race and some other hardships, our drivers and crew pulled it together to manage a successful race with 2 top-15 finishes."

Smith is referring to the incident which happened to his Kinetic partner and pro-driver, Nic Jönsson. Jönsson pulled double duty this weekend racing with both Kinetic Motorsports in the Grand-Am KONI Challenge GS and for Krohn Racing in the #76 Proto Auto Lola for the Rolex 24. Jönsson and co-driver Gunnar Jeannette were to debut the Kinetic built #79 BMW M3 E92 V8. After many months of preparation and hard work, their dreams for a successful race ended when in turn 2 of the first lap, an overly eager driver cut into the left side of Jönsson sending him into the wall.
"The team and I were so excited to show what we know this car can do over the 3 hour race but unfortunately you have no control over other drivers movements out there on the track.", said Jönsson. "I am extremely disappointed for our team and for the fans that have been expressing their desire to watch this car perform for the first time. The car was totaled so now it is back to the shop to rebuild. We just have to pick ourselves up and keep moving forward. This car is incredibly fast and our team will be back to prove that soon.
