Buford, GA – April 27, 2009 Kinetic Motorsports is gearing up for Grand-Am's KONI Challenge, Verizon 250 race hosting a five car assault at the New Jersey Motorsports Park, 2.25 mile track in Millville, New Jersey on May 2nd.
The team of Glenn Bocchino and Todd Lamb, driving the # 32 Cybernation / Cobalt Brakes / Traqmate sponsored Kinetic BMW will make their appearance with an updated vinyl wrap and confidence found from two days of intensive testing at the New Jersey track last month. Both drivers worked hard with the Kinetic crew and engineers to further refine the car's performance and handling ability. Following a 4th place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the duo will continue to push for their first podium of the 2009 season.
"During the Homestead race we were still not where we wanted to be with our set up.", commented Bocchino. "The team performed flawlessly on pit lane to get us the track position we needed for the 4th place finish. We were able to get two solid days of testing completed and feel like we now have the package it will take to make it on the podium."
Currently sitting 12th in the Grand Sport (GS) points of the Grand-Am KONI Challenge, drivers Lee Davis and Russell Smith are determined to break into the top 10 this weekend. Both drivers tested the #33 Luna–C Clothing sponsored Kinetic BMW at the New Jersey track and feel very confident heading into the race.
"Anytime we can test at one of these tracks we'll be competing at gives us so much more confidence going into the weekend", says Kinetic co-owner and founder, Russell Smith. "With the limited amount of track time during most of the weekends, getting the extra track time allows us to come out of the box very close to where we need to be."
Following an unfortunate start to the season due to an incident in lap one at Daytona, pro-driver and Kinetic co-owner, Nic Jonsson, is looking forward to the New Jersey event as the "start" of his GS season. Sharing driving duties in the #79 sponsored DemspeyChallenge.org Kinetic BMW E92 M3, will be fellow pro-driver, Ryan Eversley. After completing an afternoon test at nearby Road Atlanta, Eversley is optimistic about his first outing driving for the Kinetic Motorsports team.

"The BMW E92 is still in its development stage and the Kinetic crew has done a great job engineering this car…all we need now is track time.", noted Eversley. We are also proud to be helping Patrick promote his event by driving the dempseychallege.org car in support of a great cause."
The DempseyChallenge.org is sponsored to raise awareness for actor, Patrick Dempsey's event on October 4th in the Dempsey Challenge: A Journey for Hope, a bicycle tour and run/walk event designed to raise both cancer awareness and funds for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing.
Lance Willsey will drive in the #80 Exelixis / BergenCountyAuto.com sponsored BMW E92 M3. After an event ending crash in the final practice session at Homestead, Lance is looking forward to taking the checkered flag this weekend.
"Unfortunately we got caught up in another drivers mistake in the final practice which ended our weekend earlier than planned.", stated Willsey. "The Kinetic team has been working diligently to prepare the car for this weekend's race and I am excited to get back on the track again. The Kinetic crew has been working day and night to re-tub the car since the last race and we expect to hit the track running and maybe finally I can get to drive my new car!"
Rounding out the line-up is series winner and professional sports car driver, Gunnar Jeannette who will be joined by rookie driver, Frankie Montecalvo from nearby Keasbey, New Jersey. This competitive duo will be racing the #87 sponsored Bayshore Recycling / Montecalvo Construction, Kinetic BMW. Although this will be Montecalvo's first Grand-Am weekend, he has competed in multiple club events and private test days with the Kinetic team since last October in anticipation of the New Jersey race.
"Frankie is developing into a future star of sports car racing in North America, taking every opportunity to learn from those around him… He is definitely ready for this weekend.", commented Jeannette. "The Kinetic team of professionals has been great to work with and Frankie and I are looking forward to joining their team."
"We are very excited about all the story lines we have within our team heading into the race at New Jersey Motorsports Park.", stated Ed Hall, Kinetic Motorsports Team Manager. "Following the two day test earlier this month, both the crew and drivers feel we have great opportunities this weekend."
The Verizon 250 race will be held May 2nd at 3:00 PM ET and will air on SPEED Channel May 9th at 12:00 PM ET. Contact Ed Hall, Kinetic Motorsports at 770-271-1577 or edh@kssmotorsports.com for more information.
