KINETIC MOTORSPORTS PROCURES BEST FINISH OF SEASON AT MID OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE

-
Kinetic Motorsports drivers, Lee Davis and Russell Smith, gained 15 spots in their fourth start of the season, to garner their best finish of their rookie season this weekend during the EMCO Gears Grand American Koni Challenge Series event at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.
Russell Smith qualified and started the #33 Kinetic Motorsports BMW 330i in 31st position. After completing 41 laps, Smith had gained 29 spots through the 45 car field, to hand over the car to Davis. Following a flawless green flag pit stop by the Kinetic team, Davis rejoined the field in 5th place.
Rain showers threatened the event from the green flag, with precipitation coming just past the one hour mark of the race. Davis was in a great position in 5th place, the only car on wets when the rain did come, unfortunately the rain only came once during the race, and was not there long enough.
Toward the end of the race, as the track began to show a "dry line", Davis and the Kinetic crew were not in a position to pit a second time for the dry tires, and chose to finish the race on the rain set. "With the amount of time left in the race, and our track position what it was, we made the decision to keep Lee out on the rains. We would have lost all of the track position we gained with the strategy if we pitted a second time, and all of the other cars around us were still on wets", stated Ed Hall Kinetic Team Manager " Lee was doing a fantastic job running with several of the series' seasoned front runners, and we knew we had put Lee in a tough position, but he kept his head down and had a fantastic stint – unfortunately he had no tires left for the last thirty minutes of the race"
With the addition of championship winning crew chief Adam Wareing earlier this season, the Kinetic team continues to build momentum and chemistry each and every event. "The cars, the crew, the entire package is getting better every weekend", says Hall, "the entire crew has stepped up their performance and sincerely believes in what Adam is building here at Kinetic".
Kinetic Motorsports will enjoy a weekend at home this week, but has the Watkins Glen Koni Challenge event clearly in their minds. "We are excited and a little pumped up after the event at Mid Ohio, but will not loose focus on the next race. Adam has pit stop practices scheduled this week, and car prep is already underway" said Kinetic Team Manger Hall "With Nic Jonsson coming back to join us at Watkins Glen in the GS car, and the fact we spent two days earlier this year testing with Lee and Russell at the Glen, I have no doubt we can continue the momentum we have started".
Kinetic Motorsports will be heading for round 5 of the KONI Challenge at Watkins Glen International on July 5th at 4:40pm ET.
