KINETIC
SPEED SHOP BACK FROM PCA WEEKEND AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS
PARK
Buford, Ga. – Clients of Kinetic Speed Shop took
part in the Porsche Club of America event this weekend
at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Ala. with Kinetic
crew performing support. Kim and Paul Gutowski returned
to racing with Kinetic for the first time this season after
impressive results at Daytona International Speedway last
October where K. Gutowski took the top of the podium and
P. Gutowski finished an impressive second in class in their
Sprint event. Jorge DeMacedo, who will make his debut
this season in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge with Kinetic
Motorsports was also at the event along with David Hinkle
behind the wheel of his Porsche.

Although
the weekend had called for periods of rain in the south,
the clouds managed to stay away from the track providing
the drivers with perfect racing conditions.
Hinkle,
who was benefiting from Kinetic support for the first time,
qualified 2nd in his sprint event. Starting off in
the No. 2 spot, paved the way for him to take 2nd
overall and 1st in class in the event. One of his goals
for the weekend was to achieve a 1.40:00 lap time. Hinkle
managed to do so while in traffic and holding off the No.
79 competitor who had previously held the track records
for his class indicating that his time would have been
faster.
“It was a great weekend and the support from Kinetic
was fantastic,” said Hinkle. “My goal
for the event was to run around a 1:40 lap time which I
was able to accomplish with helpful feedback from Nic and
the guys. I think I set a c-stock track record as
I was running around a second and a half faster than the
previous holder. You’ve got to be happy about
that.”
Both
Gutowskis enjoyed a successful weekend at Barber Motorsports
Park. Kinetic co-owner and professional driver Nic
Jonsson piloted both cars during practice sessions in order
to feel the cars out and offer expert advice regarding
car setup. The time behind the wheel worked and the
Kinetic crew took both Porsches to a new level. During
their sprint event, P. Gutowski finished 4th overall and
second in class with K. Gutowski finishing in the 6th spot
overall and taking the top of the podium in her class. |

“The
weekend was perfect,” said P. Gutowski. “TJ,
Stephen and James were all over the cars, from cleaning
them after each session to debriefing us and making appropriate
suspension and tire adjustments. While sitting on the grid,
they would do circles around the cars, checking the hood
pins, doors, mirrors, and ensuring that we were ready.
Stephen detailed the cars endlessly,
which led to Kim's car winning Best Prepared for the event.
The PCA Tech guys told us that they had a difficult time deciding which
of the 2 cars should receive the honor! On Friday
we were extremely fortunate to have Nic do a few laps in
both cars and he was able to make some changes which really
made both cars come to life. The results show that his
help made a significant difference for both of us!”

In
preparation for his debut in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge
presented by Michelin, DeMacedo used the weekend to continue
honing his skill behind the wheel of his new “Global
Money Remittance” Porsche 997 that will run with
Kinetic Motorsports this season in the popular Porsche
series.
Kinetic General Manager, Ed Hall was in attendance for
the weekend and summed everything up for the event.
“The facility is always first class,” said
Hall. “The PCA scrutineers did an incredible
job and the region as always was very welcoming and helpful. Our
clients did a great job this weekend and we are very proud
of the results. We always enjoy working with them
as well as Barber Motorsports Park and look forward to
the next event.” |
