Buford, Ga. - Kinetic
Speed Shop supported several clients this weekend at the
N.A.S.A event at Roebling Road Raceway located just outside
of Savannah Ga. Those in attendance were Lee Davis, Stacy
Freeman, Scott Campbell, Derek Skea and Fred Wicks who
competed with their own Porsches all supported by Kinetic
Speed Shop.
The weather was hot and humid at the 2.02 mile road course
which resulted in a slick track and average times a bit
off from the norm in terms of Porsche 944 capabilities.
The Kinetic Crew and clients were however undaunted and
posted solid results throughout the weekend.
Campbell, who competed in the 944 Cup class at the sprint
events on both Saturday and Sunday, won both races in his
class. During his race on Saturday, Kinetic showed a little
sportsmanship with its toughest competitor when Tim Pruitt's
Porsche 944 broke a timing belt bending all of the valves.
Kinetic's Steve Cosgrove made the call to allow Pruitt
to buy the items needed for repair so that he could compete
the following day. During qualifying Pruitt posted a better
time than Campbell however the Kinetic driver was able
to overtake Pruitt and two other cars during a standing
restart to take the win on Sunday.
Skea took the win in his event on Saturday with Wicks achieving
two second place finishes in the 944 Super Cup class on
Saturday and Sunday. Davis piloted his Luna-C Racing Porsche
944 and posted a third place finish in class on Saturday.
Freeman competed behind the wheel of his newly tubbed Porsche
after a mishap in the Atlanta N.A.S.A. event. His car was
hit in the driver's door by a spec Miata so this race was
more of a shakedown of the car. The result was a mid-pack
finish, a solid run for Freeman and his 944.
"All the cars did pretty well and they were well
prepped," said Cosgrove. "We had one issue with
an oil line but were able to correct that and move on.
The weekend went really smooth with very few mechanical
issues. We helped out a fellow competitor this weekend
with parts. Its club racing so it's hard not to help others
out. At the same time this was our toughest competition
so Scott really came through with the win. We had no failures
of any kind and the weekend was as clean as you can get
especially with five 944s there. Hats off to all of the
guys and congratulations on a successful weekend!"
