Speaks to the PCA Crowd About
the 24 Hours of Le
Mans |
Buford, Ga. - Kinetic
Speed Shop and clients enjoyed another great weekend at
Road Atlanta with the Peachstate Porsche Club of America
during the latest of the club's driver education events
meant to provide club members with the opportunity to discover
their car's potential and drive at high speeds in a safe
environment while improving overall driving skills. Kinetic
clients benefited from the years of Porsche expertise of
Kinetic technicians while taking full advantage of the
air-conditioned motor coach during off time that is available
for all such events. Kinetic co-owner and professional
driver Nic Jonsson was in attendance as well and gave the
enthusiastic crowd the chance to hear about his first experience
driving in the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Jonsson entertained approximately 60 PCA club members in
the media center on Sunday detailing his first 24 Hours
of Le Mans event and the chance to compete with a team
that boasts three 24 Hour championships. Those in attendance
heard Jonsson speak about topics from his candid experience
staying at a chateau built in the 1700's and having to
share only two bathrooms between 18 team members to what
it was like going through the Mulsanne Straight in pitch
black conditions. As Jonsson continued to speak, he showed
the crowd pictures from the event including shots with
some of the hundreds of thousands of fans and action from
the track. After the speech ended, PCA members were given
the opportunity to ask questions of the pro-driver which
allowed an even more detailed description of Jonsson's
Porsche and 24 Hour background.
As an added bonus, Jonsson also hosted a "Chalk Talk" at
the Kinetic transporter in the paddock which was also available
to everyone at the event. This session was a bit more technical
as Jonsson provided PCA members with detailed information
about Road Atlanta, a track that he has come to know like
the back of his hand. Jonsson went through each section
of the course and with the use of the track diagram was
able to educate those in attendance about everything from
braking points to navigating the difficult turns that can
be problematic for drivers. Attendees were again given
the chance to ask questions of Jonsson which offered that
much more insight to one of the nations premier road courses.
"First of all, Nic is such a nice guy and really spoke about some interesting
topics today," said Kinetic client Steve Adams. "Kinetic has so many
excellent tools and cache items at their disposal that they can use in order
to achieve the goals that they have. Nic's knowledge not only helps improve
customer cars but also increases their confidence level which is just as important
out there on the track."

Porsche Enthusiasts Listen
to Jonsson
Speak About Road Atlanta |
"I was very pleased and surprised with so many people
coming to hear me speak my about the 2006 24 Hours of Le
Mans as well as the chalk talk, said Jonsson." "I
think it's really neat to be able to offer these type of
things to everyone in the paddock. The PCA is a great organization
and something that we at Kinetic are proud to be a national
sponsor of. When it comes to Porsche, they build a very
good all around race car. The car is something that you
can go buy and is in the ball park right out of the box
which is something that very few manufactures do. That's
why the club racing scene is so popular for Porsche. I
would like to thank everyone who came out this weekend
both for a great learning experience behind the wheel and
to listen to my experiences. I hope to be able to do something
like this again very soon."
Jonsson is an experienced international racer, test driver
and trainer. For the past 16 years, he has worked at all
levels of racing and the automotive industry. Jonsson currently
races with Krohn Racing in the Grand-Am Rolex Series behind
the wheel of the Krohn Daytona Prototype. He also competes
in the American Le Mans Series GT2 class in a Porsche GT3
RSR in select endurance events with the three time Le Mans
champion Petersen White Lightning team. Jonsson has also
tested and developed cars for Haas CNC Racing for NASCAR's
Nextel Cup and Busch series in addition to private coaching.
